A Macmillan Information and Support Centre Coordinator at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield has taken up an invitation from HRH the Prince of Wales to attend a Royal reception at Buckingham Palace.

Laura Adamson, a Macmillan Information and Support Centre Coordinator, based in the Macmillan Centre at Pinderfields, scooped the 2017 Young Macmillan Champion Award for the north of England. The award recognises exceptional volunteers aged 25 years and under who are advocates of Macmillan's work.

Laura began volunteering for Macmillan in 2014, following the care her Mum received from the organisation during her bowel cancer illness. Sadly, Laura's Mum passed away in 2012.

In 2016, she then joined the Macmillan Cancer team at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust by volunteering part time at the Macmillan Centre on floor D at Pinderfields Hospital, until she secured a full time role as Macmillan Centre Coordinator at the beginning of this year.
