The overall vision for the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance is the local delivery of the ambitions identified by the National Cancer Taskforce in 'Achieving World Class Cancer Outcomes - A Strategy for England 2015-2020', published in July 2015.

This is in line with the role assigned to all Cancer Alliances by NHS England.

Working collectively with our stakeholders and Macmillan Cancer Support, we have agreed a very specific vision for West Yorkshire and Harrogate.

This is based on a commitment to working as a single health and care system, focused on the needs of local populations, wherever possible, through close collaboration with and across the six local 'places' defined within the West Yorkshire and Harrogate health and care partnership - Bradford, Airedale and Craven; Calderdale; Harrogate and Rural District; Kirklees; Leeds and Wakefield.

Together we are working towards a set of common measures and realistic ambitions - delivered through local place-based plans. At West Yorkshire and Harrogate level, our focus will be on facilitating, enabling and co-ordination activity, sharing best practice and 'scaling up' those approaches and innovations proven to work well at local level to drive out inequalities and unacceptable variation.

Our Alliance will continue to capitalise on opportunities to bid for further local investment through the National Cancer Transformation Fund.

Our vision is:

"The West Yorkshire and Harrogate cancer system pulling together as one, with common objectives, actively breaking down barriers and maximising resources, with the aim of being able to deliver the best possible, seamless, clinically led and patient driven health and social care, so that every person affected by cancer is assured of the best possible outcomes."
